The Center for the Promotion of Exports of Tunisia (CEPEX) indicated that the trade deficit of agricultural and agri-food products for 2016 reached 71.4%, following a significant drop in exports (-25% ). This deficit is explained in large part by the severe drop in exports of olive oil (-63%). This deficit has been recorded although Tunisia remains the second African country to produce organic products which are exported at 80% for a range of 60 products on 5 continents.
